Dipl. Phys. Margareta Oproiu is one of the two founding partners of Cabinet M. Oproiu in 1995.

Margareta is among the first Romanian Patent Attorneys qualified in 1992 when the profession in private practice was created.

Areas of Expertise

Margareta Oproiu is specialized in patent and trademark prosecution and enforcement in Romania.

Before becoming a Patent Attorney, Margareta worked in a research institute in plasma physics where she was part of a team that patented an installation in that technical field.

Her competitive edge is the technical part of the patent litigations, including the litigations involving supplementary protection certificates. She worked along the years in many complex litigation cases in the field of pharmaceutical patents. In addition, Margareta was actively involved in the creation of the first law governing the profession of patent attorneys in Romania, and remained active throughout the years in the workgroups created for the amendment of said law.

Margareta was part of workgroup who contributed to the amendments to the national patent law in 2007 and to the amendments to the national trademarks law in 2010.

Memberships

Margareta is Romania’s FICPI delegate. She strived to create a national FICPI group and to disseminate FICPI’s principles of good practices among the Romanian Patent Attorneys.

In this respect, she participated in the workgroup of the National Patent Attorney’s chamber who created the Deontological Code of Romanian Patent Attorneys alongside the FICPI guidelines.

Margareta is member of ECTA (European Community Trademark Association) and member of INTA (International Trademark Association).

Publishing

Margareta is fluent in English and French. She is frequent contributor to various international publications in the field of patents and trademarks.
